The TBD Center is thrilled to celebrate a remarkable achievement by our Director, Dr. Chandra Bhat, who has been named the recipient of the prestigious 2024 W.N. Carey, Jr. Distinguished Service Award by the Transportation Research Board (TRB).
Dr. Bhat, the Joe J. King Endowed Chair Professor at The University of Texas at Austin, is being honored for his more than 30 years of dedicated service to TRB and his significant contributions to the field of transportation research management. The Carey Award, named after W.N. Carey, Jr., TRB’s Executive Director from 1967 to 1980, recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and distinguished service to the organization.
The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, during the Chair’s Plenary Session at the TRB Annual Meeting, held January 5–9, 2025, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
This well-deserved recognition underscores Dr. Bhat’s unwavering commitment to advancing transportation research and inspiring innovation in the field. The TBD Center extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Bhat on this remarkable accomplishment!
