TBD Center Director Chandra Bhat (The University of Texas at Austin) and TBD Associate Director Patricia Mokhtarian (Georgia Institute of Technology) are among the 20 internationally recognized transportation researchers featured in the recently published book Conversations with Leading Transport Researchers: The Unwritten Rules of Academia.
Through in-depth interviews with leading transportation researchers from around the world, the book shares career experiences, lessons learned, and practical advice for graduate students and early-career researchers navigating academia.
To celebrate the book’s release, Professors Bhat and Mokhtarian joined Professor Becky P.Y. Loo (The University of Hong Kong) for a free online book launch and panel discussion, moderated by Professor Geoffrey Rose (Monash University), on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. The event included a book overview, a discussion on academic careers, and book giveaways.
